The
first event was a tough one. The water was very cold.... and the
wind was blowing....and the sun was in and out all day....water
temps varied from 50 - 57 degrees in areas of East Twin Lake, to as
warm as 61 in the creek mouth of West Twin Lake. There were no
visible beds, and not even any visible cruisers in East Twin. In the
end 15 out of 18 anglers brought something to the scales, but no one
had more than 3 fish. I don’t think any 2 people used the same
technique to catch fish on Sunday, making it pretty clear that there
simply was no pattern to be found. Andy Brozdowski weighed in a genuine “PIG” of a Smallmouth that tipped the scales at 4.60lb. That is a new club record, just beating out Scott Caravella’s 4.45lb Smallmouth caught on Lake Champlain last season. Luckily, Ralph had a disposable camera with him, so we were able to get a shot of Andy with the fish. We had 3 Rookies make their debut on Sunday.
