1st Bassmasters Tournament Results
Highland Lake, NY – July 15th,  2007  6:15AM-2:15PM
1st Bassmasters of Sullivan Co. NY fished it’s 7th event of the season on Highland Lake this past Sunday. Historically, Highland has proven to be a challenging lake with big fish potential, and this year’s event was a perfect example. 14 boats, 17 Club Members, and 2 Junior Club Members launched at 6:15 to a calm, cool morning. Several anglers reported catching a few fish very early, but the rest of the day was very difficult for most of the competitors.

The fish were located just off of the pad and grass lines at the first drop-off, in 5-8 feet of water or, were back in the pads and grass. The majority of the anglers spent time trying to horse fish out of the cover without much success.

There were only 2 limits, and 6 anglers weighed in no fish at all. However, consistent with Highland Lake, there were 5 fish that weighed over 4lbs, and 3 of them broke the 5lb mark, including a new Lunker Largemouth for the year, a 5.70lb Largemouth weighed in by Kenny Cutler.

In the end, Ken Cutler continued the defense of his Angler of the Year title by winning his 3rd event of 2007 with a 5 fish limit of 13.20lbs, His brother and Co-angler for the day Ollie Cutler finished 2nd with 5 fish weighing in at 10.55lbs, and our newest member Ryan Klatt finished 3rd with a 3 fish bag totaling 8.65lbs. The 3 heaviest fish for the day were 5.70lbs, 5.45lbs and 5.05lbs. The average fish for the day was a healthy 2.20lbs.

1st Bassmasters’ next event is on Saratoga Lake,  August 5th.
